I say another set of vintage sounds, because a few days ago I wrote about a sample pack of LinnDrum samples, courtesy of Sharooz, one of the guys behind the Sample Magic label. If you are interested in these samples, then for you. Back to the present release, the free 808 drum samples are supplied in 24-bit WAV format and they’re 100% royalty free.

Pure 808 Drum Samples is a unique and authentic sample pack that includes REAL TR-808 drum machine samples recorded from Roland's TR-808 Drum Machine.

The cool factor of the pack is that it features every sound at every possible tone and pitch. You will have all what Roland’s famous TR-808 drum machine has to offer. In depth, 808 Samples – Free Pack contains 15 snares, a rimshot, 8 toms, a cowbell, 5 open-hats, 6 closed-hats, a shaker, 57 kicks, a clap and a clave. These samples are suitable for a wide range of music genres, for example trap, hip hop, minimal, deep house, future bass and other EDM styles.

Each drum hit was painstakingly recorded through a high-end signal path, then captured via a Prism Orpheus sound card at 24-bit/44.1kHz and lightly processed via a Neve 1073 pre-amp. The Roland TR-808 Rhythm Composer Trash_Audio’s Surachai has created a Roland TR-808 sample library and is: Justin graciously let me borrow his Roland TR-808 and when trying to program some patterns I noticed a few problems. • A) I’m clearly too stupid to work this machine – I eventually figured it out but off the bat, both the Pattern knob the Auto Fill In knob were double teaming my brain and left me staring at shifting patterns that mocked me with changing tempos. • B) The sequencing buttons themselves have been accumulating grime over the years which makes it difficult to activate a note. I would gladly take this thing apart and clean it but it’s not mine. • C) It’s outdated. While the interface is preferred for many people, I’d rather do this on a computer or something more flexible like a Machinedrum. Long story short, I decided to sample it and save people the hassle of finding/buying one. Download Office 2000 Sp3.

Oh yeah and it’s free. I've had a kick sample from my 808 in MD for awhile now, it's my 'go to' kick drum to this day. However, as crazy as the 808's UI is, there's nothing out there that has that swing and groove, with envelopes of one part affecting the attack of othersit's just a magical box that has something to it that just can't be 'translated' via samples. And of course you guys know that alreadyso here's to making even crazier techno using the MachineDrum with sampled 808 hits!

(no finer combo in the world perhaps?) Thanks so much for making these free. What a delight! I've had a kick sample from my 808 in MD for awhile now, it's my 'go to' kick drum to this day. Here’s a treat for all you beginning producers out there that haven’t got the odd +/- 3.000 euros lying around for a Roland classic, but still want to make fat beats that sound like the real deal. The good people at and got together late one night to record a Roland TR-808 drum machine through the $30,000 Fairchild 670 compressor. This happened around a year ago and the result was a collection of some of the best and qualitatively outstanding TR-808 samples out there.

Although the samples were intended for the guys’ personal use, they soon decided that it would be even better to share it with the rest of the world. Their work didn’t stop there however, since they steadily started releasing other sample packs from other signature drum computers that have put their stamp on the dance music industry. After a full year the decision was made to improve the sample pack through a new recording session. This type they’ve incorporated every drum instrument from the drum-machine (even the cowbell that wasn’t present in the first release).
